Trust me. The pan is hot. You will get burned.
I had a client this week that I had to let go. I had been trying for more than a year to secure them properly, but they just wouldn’t take my warnings seriously.
The landscape of IT services has changed. I can no longer sit idly by and let my clients stay unprotected when I know better.
It reminded me of a time when I was cooking with my young daughter.
She was standing on a stepstool as we were cooking eggs, and as we broke the eggs into the pan, I told her that the pan was hot, and it would burn her. As I saw her curiosity get the better of her, I reminded her again, she would get burned, and it would hurt. As we continued to cook and I moved around the kitchen, I was concerned that she might ignore my warnings and touch the pan. Short story, she didn’t touch it. But part of that is that she trusts me. She knows I’m telling her the truth, and I wouldn’t do anything to get her hurt.
I understand it can be hard to take advice and It can be costly to implement changes to secure your environment. It can also be difficult to understand the threats that exist in today’s world.
But trust me. The pan is hot. You will get burned.
